Buga (Lo Lo Lo) - Kizz Daniel

***

REVIEWED: July 17, 2022

I really enjoyed the beat of the song, it was a good song for parties. You already know this is getting played at every West African function, and there is no doubt about it. It sounds like a very summery song, it has that lightheartedness to it. Another thing to note is that it is very catchy. Okay, so I have been listening to afro-beats for a while, and there is something so distinctively different about the beats used in this genre. It is essentially impossible to NOT dance to this song and many others. My initial impressions of the song were that it was a very high-energy track, and I immediately started dancing, I couldn’t help myself. I listened to a lot of Kizz Daniel songs a few years ago, specifically when I danced a lot for my school’s cultural fair performance. Another song of his that I am a fan of is Tere, and I danced specifically to this with one of my friends last spring. Compared to Buga, I personally preferred Tere, as I felt like it held a more versatile instrumental. I know I usually tend to give songs much higher ratings than other reviewers, and I don’t really go below a 5. However, I tend to like most music unless it is exceptionally bad. In terms of originality, the song sounds very much like other afro-beats songs I listen to and enjoy, but this does not make it a bad track–it just makes it a very average track. Because it doesn’t make any waves in the genre, it is doomed to receive a lower rating. I like Kizz Daniel’s sound a lot, I just feel like this song left me wanting more. I hope his next project can deliver what I am looking for. Thank you for your time my amazing readers, see you for next week’s review!
